I really do appreciate those who comment/respond to my ramblings. Of course it is family so far but perhaps others will find their way and we can broaden our perspectives and understandings a 'wee' bit. The recovery from injury is coming along slowly but surely although the PA called today to see how things were going and to let me know that after the reading of the xrays, it was noted that I have a lot of 'old Arthur' in that joint so full recovery is a bit 'iffy'. We'll lay that in His hands too, though. None of this news dampens my spirit or lessens my desire to be of service to Him in a greater and greater way. I've begun to contemplate how periodic short-term mission trips could be managed financially. I really dislike asking folks for donations :( [Know what I mean?]. I have pondered the 'why' of going to Scotland, Ireland, N.Ireland and England rather than to, say, Africa or Asia, etc. In reality, even though those places have needs, they are more than likely to be Christian than Europe and the British Isles. Couple that with personal heritage and history and I think it's a logical choice. Besides, they do speak English which I can get by in quite handily. Much prayer desired and requested, please.

Hi Ro,
Glad to see you in the blogosphere. It seems God really has put Scotland on your heart. That's how we ended up here as it was something we just couldn't get out of our heads. Of course we did spend some time (about 6 months) here about 9 years ago which gave us a real flavour for the country. It really is a beautiful land and if you like this kind of weather with its long summer days (it doesn't get dark now till 11pm) and unfortunately short dark winter days with much rain mixed in then that's half the battle. On the other hand this is an extremely dark land from a spiritual perspective. There are more witch covens springing up than new churches. Actually on average there are about 2 churches per week closing their doors. After being here a couple of years we've learned a lot and the most important thing is this, pray!! We've seen many a missionary chewed up and spit out. That being said, if you feel God is saying go, then you have to go but do it with complete dependence on Christ. I think the biggest need here in Scotland is for new churches to be planted. The key to doing this well here though is to not come in with a we're going to show you how it's done (they've seen too many Americans come here with that attitude)but to come with true humility and again much prayer. If you do that, the people will warm to you and eventually trust you. I hope and pray that God will give you clarity on this and that He will heal up that shoulder.
God bless and keep on blogging.
